Arthritis In Pets

What is Arthritis?

Arthritis affects cats and dogs in the same way as it affects humans. Joints can become inflamed as they age; this restricts their movement and can sometimes be very painful.

This inflammation can lead to cartilage wear, which can lead to the bones rubbing together. The cartilage protects the ends of the bones and if this wears through, the resulting bone-on-bone contact can be very painful for your pet.

Any pet can get arthritis but it’s more common in the cases of older pets and pets that are overweight.

Joint problems in dogs seriously reduce their life quality with many exhibiting decreased activity levels, stiffness, and inability to partake in walks or play. Predisposing factors include old age, injury, intensive training, obesity and hereditary conditions. The nutritional support of the cartilage is critical in the regeneration of damaged joints.

Your dog may be noticeably stiff; their movements may appear slow and stilted or they might show a limp. Cats symptoms will be more evident in their behaviour and mood.

They might become reluctant to move and spend more time asleep, so they might come across as lethargic and tired a lot of the time.

Lack of movement can lead to a loss of appetite or to weight gain – this can make the problem worse because the increased weight puts extra pressure on the joints. The pet may also appear as they can’t get comfortable to lie down and rest.

Arthritis is a permanent condition and it usually progresses as the pet grows older. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to be done!

Stride Plus is a complementary feed supplement for the nutritional maintenance of healthy cartilage and joints in dogs. It combines the highest quality Glucosamine HCL, Chondroitin Sulphate, Hyaluronic Acid and MSM in a convenient and palatable liquid, which is easily dispensed on the dogs feed.

KURASYN CANINE is a complementary feed supplement for dogs containing highly bioavailable Curcumin combined with Hyaluronic Acid. The Turmeric utilised in the formula has been complexed with a naturally occurring oligosaccharide and has significantly better absorption compared with standard Turmeric. Curcumin is also a very effective anti-inflammatory which can help reduce your pets pain.
